У многих людей слово «музей» ассоциируется с пылью веков, патриархальными cтарушками, начищенным паркетом и картинами в золоченых рамах, хотя музейные технологии уже давно идут в ногу со временем: появились мультимедийные музеи и музеи в Интернете, музеи запахов и звуков, и даже музеи хлеба, воздуха и плохого искусства. Развеять представление о музее, как о чем-то вполне предсказуемом и решились инициаторы проекта «Московский музей дизайна».
Many people associate the word ‘museum’ with age-old dust, polished wood floors, old ladies and paintings in gilded frames. However, contrary to such views, museum practices have been keeping up with the times. Already there are multimedia museums, museums on the Internet, museums of smells and sounds, even museums of bread, air and bad art. Creators of the Moscow Design Museum project are keen to dispel conventional notions of what a museum experience should be.

Музеи дизайна открыты во всех значимых столицах мира, это также привычно для жителей больших мегаполисов, как, к примеру, существование музеев современного искусства. И лишь Москва до сих отставала: было много попыток организовать музей дизайна, но пока ни одна не завершилась успехом. Одни говорили, что изначально необходима серьезная государственная поддержка, другие – что поддержки профессионального сообщества и небольших финансов вполне достаточно, но время еще не пришло.
There are currently museums of design in all major capitals of the world. The existence of such museums is as natural to residents of large megapolis as the presence of museums of modern art. Only Moscow has been lagging behind: there have been a number of attempts to organize a museum of design but none have yet been successful. Some claimed that such a project needs serious government support. Others said that moderate financing plus support from the professional community would be enough but that the time for such a project had not yet come.

Мы решили восполнить этот пробел – перейти от слов к делу и открыть «Московский музей дизайна»… как первый в мире музей в АВТОБУСЕ, который будет передвигаться по столице и близлежащим городам России с программой выставок, лекций и мастер-классов. Помимо мобильного зала музей разместится и в стенах бывшего БОМБОУБЕЖИЩА на территории Дизайн центра Artplay.
We decided to fill this gap, suit the action to the word and open the Moscow Design Museum… as the first museum on a BUS in the world. It will be moving around the capital and surrounding cities of Russia with a program of exhibitions, lectures and master classes. Besides this mobile space the museum will occupy a former BOMB SHELTER at the Design Center Artplay.

«Московский музей дизайна» - это международная выставочная и образовательная площадка, это первый, единственный и уникальный дизайн-музей в России. В нем широкой публике будут демонстрироваться лучшие образцы мирового и российского дизайна. С момента создания музей аккумулирует силы молодых и продвинутых экспертов дизайна со всего мира, к примеру, фирменный стиль музея разработан известной нидерландской дизайн-студией LAVADesign, а первая презентация музея прошла 13 февраля 2012 года в Лондонском музее дизайна. Проект в высшей степени инновационный, он ориентирован на использование новейших информационных технологий и культурных стратегий.
The Moscow Design Museum is an international exhibition and education platform and the first, the only and the unique design museum in Russia. It is a space where the general public will be able to view the best examples of international and Russian design. From the moment of its creation the museum has been accumulating the strengths of young and cutting-edge design experts from around the world. For example, the trademark style of the museum was created by LAVA Design – a famous Dutch design studio, while the first presentation of the museum on February 13, 2012 took place at the London Design Museum. This project is highly innovative and it will be using the newest information technologies and cultural strategies.
